Mobile-phone service across Canada is down as we write this press release.  The service provided by telecom giant Rogers Communications is down from British Columbia to Newfoundland.

Neither voice nor data are working according to recent reports across the country, including in Vancouver, Kelowna, Calgary, Saskatoon, Regina, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, St. John’s and Halifax among other areas.

A spokesperson from Rogers Communications just issued this statement: “Our wireless customers are currently experiencing voice and service interruptions.  Data services do not appear to be affected.  We apologize for the inconvenience and we are working to resolve it as quickly as possible.”

This and other outages can present not only frustrations, but also disastrous consequences for businesses across Canada.  This is yet another reason that businesses should consider using VoiP services (Voice over Internet Protocol) services, so they can continue to operate during outages like this.  With VoIP from your local IT Managed Services Provider, you can keep your business up and running, even when your telephone and/or mobile services are down.
